We spent years inside companies where the work mattered but the structure hadn't kept pace — where financial discipline, operating structure, or long-term planning lagged behind the business itself.
We also learned the limits of advising from the outside. Clarity without alignment changes nothing. The businesses that improved were the ones where everyone involved — owners, operators, capital — shared the same commitment to what came next.

Jeff Charbonneau
Jeff has spent more than three decades in executive leadership, ownership, and investment — moving through roles that each deepened his understanding of how businesses create and sustain value.
He began as a corporate executive in retail pharmacy before transitioning to a multi-location franchise owner and operator. That shift — from leading inside someone else's structure to building and eventually selling his own — shaped a lasting view: enterprise value is built through operating discipline, not financial engineering.
From there, Jeff became a principal in several business ventures spanning real estate development, business consulting, and investment advisory. He later co-founded a private wealth management practice, built on a straightforward principle: never ask an investor to commit capital you haven't committed yourself.
Jeff then served as Managing Director of a private equity firm, where he led the investment committee and oversaw portfolio strategy — acquiring and strengthening businesses across industrial and service sectors. That experience reinforced what ownership had already taught him: durable performance comes from capable leadership, clear operating standards, and the willingness to walk away from opportunities that don't withstand scrutiny.
At xAcuity, Jeff brings that same standard to every conversation — assessing teams, reading operating environments, and focusing on whether the fundamentals support the path forward.
Kamran Rana
Kamran's career has moved consistently toward the intersection of capital, operations, and the behaviour that connects them.
He began in audit at a Big Four firm, working across manufacturing, construction, pharmaceutical, automotive, food production, hospital, and public sector environments. That early exposure built a foundational instinct: numbers are produced by systems, and when systems are weak, the numbers stop telling the truth.
From there, Kamran moved into private equity portfolio operations, where he was responsible for post-acquisition value creation across multiple portfolio companies in industrial and service sectors. The work was hands-on — inside manufacturing facilities, service operations, and specialty product businesses — where performance depended on utilization, job costing, install schedules, billable rates, and the discipline of the teams on the floor.
He later served as VP Finance within a portfolio company, leading a bolt-on acquisition integration and transitioning the business to a recurring revenue model. From there, he took on a CFO role at a fast-growing Canadian company before moving into fractional CFO advisory.
Working directly with owner-led businesses confirmed what every prior role had pointed toward: lasting growth follows from strong foundations — not the other way around.
